IMG 2239The library at the Institute for Art History, Research Centre for the Humanities is the most significant repository for scientific literature concerning Hungarian topics with holdings of around 32,000 books, 15,000 exhibition catalogues, and 11,000 periodicals. The collection, which has been organically developed for over 50 years, was often enriched with bequests that represented considerable research material in some fields (e.g. Lajos Fülep, Antal Kampis, Tamás Bogyay etc.). In particular, the library has outstanding holdings of local and foreign books and periodicals dedicated to codicology, the Hungarian avant-garde, theories on art and the philosophy of art, the Middle Ages and the Baroque. We have a significant collection of Hungarian exhibition catalogues from the first half of the twentieth century and numerous catalogues of contemporary fine art exhibitions.
